Lanolin also has many other applications apart from breastfeeding purposes. Lanolin is commercially used in many industrial products such as rustproof coatings and lubricants. Sailors also use lanolin to create slippery surfaces on their propellers and stern gear to which barnacles cannot adhere to. Baseball players also use lanolin to soften and break in their baseball gloves. Anhydrous liquid lanolin has been used in trials to create artificial tears to treat dry eyes. As a moisturizer, it works by forming an oily layer on the top of the skin that traps water in the skin. Most people will also tell you that using lanolin might be bad for you, but these people are mistaken by allergies caused by lanolin. Lanolin allergies can be quite bad therefore some people mistake these conditions as coming from lanolin itself.
